There have been a lot of claims and there are still raging debates about who the first people on earth were. Whereas the rest of the world carries on in this unending dispute, the people of Ankore know that they rent the curtains of the dawn of human existence. They have not erected monuments nor do they have tomes of literature to substantiate this truth; they only have their culture to prove this. From the renowned “garden of Eden” a.k.a. Nshungyezi Cave, to the unrivalled Ankore long-horned cows, the Ankore people are undoubtedly the umbilical cord of the human race. They have lived in what scientists believe are the first human habitations, the East African region, and mainly the South-western part of Uganda. The people and their culture, although part of its main thrust is nomadic, have stayed in these areas for a long, long time.
Away from their unchallenged claims of being the first people on earth, the Ankore people have probably one of the most elaborate and most extensive cultures. There are vast features of the culture that it would be unfairness to even start writing about it in its boundless entirety. But with the temptation that has lured millions that have either been a part of this enchanting culture or somehow known something of it, we attempt to write something for you. This is written against the background of wanting you to know something about the culture, and also an invitation to partake of it somehow. Heart and Soul
There is, without need for comparison, perhaps no other collection of people that have the same ethnic grouping and yet have as distinctly different customs as the Banyankore people do. In-depth anthropological research shows that the variations are not necessarily the obvious differences in tribal compositions but a deeply distinctive and certainly the most unique tribe ever. There are over a dozen very simple yet subtle diverse distinctions among the Ankore people and the mystery of discovering these differences beckons both the native and the momentary visitor.

Serene Embers
For as long as the Ankore people have existed as a group, fire has been as an integral part of their life. Now, they add a touch of intrigue. When the doors of Nshenyi were flung open to the outside world to come in and experience the joy that the Ankore people have known for centuries, fire became a core part of what they share. Mainly under a starry night sky or moonlit one, the Ankore people light a campfire and entertain their guests with what most a visitor have reckoned as a soft pat of lavish experience marinated in traditional dance and singing. Taking to the dusty ground they break into animal-based choreographed dances and sing songs that have echoed over the centuries to the joy of guests. The fire blazes during the campfire moments but the embers of memories last longer than the dancing and singing.
